3 Nov 2009I got this message when i try to listing…
“We regret to inform you that your eBay account is prohibited from
listing additional items at this time. In order to maintain a safe
trading environment, selling limits are occasionally placed on accounts.
This selling limit is in no way meant to question your record with eBay
or standing within the eBay community. To resolve this situation, please
contact eBay’s SafeHarbor Department using the Webform on the following
help page.
We sincerely value you as a member of our trading community and look
forward to a continued successful relationship. We appreciate your
cooperation in resolving this matter as quickly as possible.

This is email from ebay about that problem:
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to being unable to list items as
you are getting selling limit.
Let me first apologize for the delay in responding to your email and any
inconvenience caused to you because of this. I really appreciate your
patience and will surely assist you in this matter.
Please bear with me as this email will be a little lengthy. However I
have included all the information that is required to assist you in
resolving your issues.
The most probable reason why you see selling limit on your account is
because you have not yet updated your credit card details on eBay
account.
Please be informed that there is a slight change in eBay policy and now
each person who wants to continue seller account on eBay is asked to
provide proof of identity. eBay requires proof of identity to ensure
that:
- Sellers are of a legal age.
- Sellers are serious about listing items on eBay.
- Members are protected from irresponsible and fraudulent sellers.
Our records show that you do not have a credit card on file with eBay.
Please understand that eBay requires credit card verification to help
ensure that buyers are of legal age and serious about completing a
transaction.
To verify your identity, you need to provide the following:
- Your bank account information
- Valid credit or debit card information (If your ATM card has a VISA or
MasterCard logo, then it’s probably a debit card.)
If you’re unable or unwilling to provide credit card, debit card, or
bank account information, you can also use ID Verify to establish your
proof of identity. ID Verification costs $5.00.
To learn more and sign up for ID Verify, go to:
http://pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/idverify-login.html
To learn how you can get started selling on eBay, go to:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/basics.html
The purpose of the new seller requirements is to:
- verify information about users without previous selling activity on
eBay.
- protect all eBay members against fraudulent activity.
I assure you that submitting your credit card information to eBay over
the Internet is safe and easy. Please be assured that all of your
private information is very secure on our site. The eBay credit card
server is a secure server on a secure site. Your credit card information
is transmitted using the industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
encryption method for your protection. Because of this security
protocol, information that you provide, such as your name and
credit-card number, is encrypted so that it can’t be read by other
people.
To add a new credit card or update the credit card information that eBay
currently has on file, simply follow the instructions below.
1. Click the “site map” link located at the top of most eBay pages.
2. Scroll down until you see the “My Selling Account” heading in the
middle column.
3. Under “My Selling Account,” click the “Place or Update Credit Card on
File” link. You may be asked to sign in.
4. Enter your credit card information on our secure form.
***Note***
If you want to use the card for automatic payments and currently pay
automatically through PayPal or Direct Pay, select the “Make this credit
card my default automatic payment method” check box. However, you won’t
see this option if you already pay by credit card or don’t use an
automatic payment method.
5. Click the “Continue” button.
If you’re adding a new credit card, you’ll be asked to authorize the
credit card.
We have some great tips and information to help you learn how to sell
successfully on eBay. I especially recommend the tutorial on selling in
the eBay Learning Center. To access the Learning Center, just follow
these steps:
1. Click the “Help” tab at the top of most eBay pages.
2. Click the “Learning Center” link on the left-hand side of the page.
3. Click the “How to Sell” link on the left-hand side of that page.
4. Click the course of your choice.
